Motel on a south hillside overlooking town and Columbia River. Been here since the 1950's but well-maintained/updated with only a few owner change-of-hands. 1 bedroom queen room was small but very clean and all room items were present and worked well. The continental breakfast was fairly substantial, and the property has a large flagstone patio with tables/seating where you can eat your meal outside and enjoy the view of river/town/bridge below on a warm, sunny morning. Staff was personable/friendly and I had nice conversations with the desk personnel. There were no rowdy guests or loud parties at this property. There is an outdoor pool but I didn't use it. The price is very reasonable for this motel. Owner has just installed a large, covered wedding event/reception area on a grass-covered spot to the east of the hotel that looks nice.

This trip involved another party that was to meet me in the area. I had to change the date of stay and the hotel was incredibly helpful and flexible. Housekeeping accommodated a later checkout so I could make the connection. And overall it was a great stay. Very quiet. Set up on a hill above the gorge. View was of the dam, not my favorite but still an expansive view of the Gorge. I was traveling with a rescue dog and the large private parking lot was perfect for late-night walks. I felt very safe and there was a lot of light. The room had every amenity I could expect and the pillow bed was so comfortable. I will stay here again.

This is a great place to stay in The Dalles. Its very comfortable and clean. The view of The Gorge is amazing and never gets old no matter what time of year. The beds are very comfortable with good pillows and its quiet. Complimentary glass of wine or beer at the end of the day is nice and the staff was very friendly. Great Stumptown coffee in the morning with a limited breakfast but seemed to be sufficient. We have stayed before and will stay again in the future.

Tanya

Excellent view of the Dalles dam and the surrounding valley. Very peaceful place to stay with the large windows overlooking the valley. I was also intrigued by the name of the hotel relating back to the name of the rapids in the pre-dam river, highlighting the native American gathering site for fishing the salmon runs each year.

Kenneth

I loved the room-thoughtfully decorated with great accent colors. Also, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom shower was fantastic. My room had a wonderful view of a tree in bloom and The Columbia River. Also, they're pet-friendly, charging an extra $25 for my dog. We were both very happy here.
